Vitamin A is an essential nutrient which is required for both day and night vision, maintaining healthy skin, and keeping mucous membranes moist and functioning. It is also needed by the thymus gland and the bones. Vitamin D helps regulate calcium and phosphorus levels in the bones, teeth, and blood. It is necessary for proper absorption of calcium from the intestine, and for the normal mineralization of the bones.
